Paternity Actions
Paternity actions are those initiated by unmarried persons for the determination of parentage. The paternity statutes allow the Court to determine the biological father, parenting plans and support for the child. Although a biological father may have signed the birth certificate for the child, in order to adjudicate the parties rights and obligations to each other, and to their child, you will need to obtain an Order from the Court. Fathers should also be aware of the Florida Putative Father Registry which requires the filing of an Affidavit with the State of Florida.
