Domestic Violence Injunctions have become a common part of today’ s divorce practice. Many times, a spouse is leaving the marriage due to both emotional and physical abuse. The purpose of an injunction for protection against domestic violence is to protect the abused spouse from danger. In order to prevail on an injunction for protection against domestic violence, you must allege that you have been abused or are in imminent danger of becoming the victim of domestic violence. Injunctions are also granted where there is a history of stalking. Injunctions are not granted for verbal abuse unless said verbal abuse would reasonable cause a person to believe that violence is imminent.
