Child Support and the new
Florida Parenting Statute
Since I started practicing law, in 1992, we have always talked about divorces with children in terms of custody and visitation. All of that is changing with the recently enacted legislation regarding parenting plans. Section 61.13, Florida Statutes, was amended significantly by the legislature to add new factors for a Court to consider when devising a parenting plan, new remedies for parents who are being denied parenting, and a provision that the court can award sole parental responsibility to one parent with, or without, a parenting plan.
